National Centre for Special Needs Education and Psychology
National Centre for Special Needs Education and Psychology (under the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science) responsible institution for developing the system of special pedagogical and psychological support in Lithuania. Centre coordinates the special pedagogical and psychological support system, provides methodical support for the municipal pedagogical psychological services and schools in Lithuania.
The National center for Special needs education and psychology in 2014-2016 coordinated Erasmus + project No. 2014-1-LT01-KA201-000555 ,,Feuerstein method implementation in school activities’’. In 2014 about 10 LPAD assessors and about 12 FIE mediators from Lithuania finished courses organized by Feuerstein institute in Jerusalem. This project brought together all LPAD assessors, FIE mediators and teachers interested in Feuerstein method from all Lithuania to work together. Mediators and assessors shared their experience and practice, possibilities to implement Feuerstein method in different curriculum, with different groups of students. Dissemination about Feuerstein method was spread through various seminars and workshops for almost 300 teachers, psychologist and special educators in Lithuania.
In 2017-2018 National center for Special needs education and psychology implemented another EU project,, Development of identification and provision for gifted students’’ Nr. 09.2.2-ESFA-V-707-01-0001. During this project 20 teachers from all country had the possibility to finish FIE standard course. 40 teachers from primary and secondary schools finished Mathematical Cognition course organized by Feuerstein Institute. The knowledge acquired in these courses teachers implemented in their lessons for gifted students and in such way disseminated Feuerstein method as an innovative and new approach to learning and teaching.
